The area was derelict; the old pond was broken and overgrown due to fifteen years of neglect.
Year 7 Geography students used the school pond as case study for their work on 'Managing Ecosystems'.
Part of the assessment was to redevelop the pond and it's surrounding area.
The pupils wanted their ideas put into action, the school applied for funding from the National Lottery and the Wildlife Area regeneration project was born.
